The Differences In Nokia N95 Vs N85

Some cellphones have features that others lack.


A number of differences exist between Nokia N85 and Nokia N95. Because Nokia also has an upgraded N95 8GB model with more internal memory, all three models should be considered when highlighting these smart phones' primary differences.


Power Management


Power management is perhaps the biggest difference between N85 and N95. Talk time is much higher on the N85, whether using the GSM network or WCDMA. For GSM, N85 provides 6.9 hours vs. 4 hours on N95 and 5 hours on N95 8GB. For WCDMA, N85 allows 4 1/2 hours vs. 2.7 hours on N95 and 3 1/2 hours on N95 8GB.


Similarly, the standby time is much longer on N85. Regardless of whether GSM or WCDMA is used, standby time on N85 is 363 hours vs. 280 hours on both networks for N95 8GB. Standby time varies slightly on N95, depending on the network; it's 225 hours for GSM and 200 hours for WCDMA.


Memory


The N85 has the smallest amount of internal dynamic memory, 74MB. It has a memory card slot, however, and can support up to 8GB of additional memory. The N95 has 169MB of internal dynamic memory. It also has a memory card slot, and it can support up to 4GB of additional memory. The N95 8GB, as might be apparent by its model name, has 8GB of internal memory. Because the model already has that much memory, it does not have a memory card slot to add memory.


Screen Size


Both the N85 and N95 have a screen size of 2.6 inches. The N95 8GB has a slightly larger screen size, 2.8 inches.


Infrared Port


While all three Nokia models use the more modern Bluetooth technology to send and receive data, both N95 models also have an infrared port to send and receive data. The N85 does not have an infrared port.


Internet Telephone (VoIP)


The N85 has Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) capability, giving the user the option to make phone calls with Internet access. Neither N95 model has that capability.
