A VMG file is a text format used by Nokia cell phones to store text message data, including the send and receive time, title header and body of the message. Because the VMG format is not common, the only program that can open the VMG format is the Nokia PC Suite. Although the Nokia PC Suite is primarily used to transfer files to and from Nokia phones, it can also display the information of VMG files in a readable format.
Instructions
1. Download and install the Nokia PC Suite program. Start the Nokia PC Suite program. Connect the Nokia phone to your computer using the supplied USB cable when prompted. The main Nokia PC Suite window opens.
2. Click "File." Click "File Manager." A new window containing all the files and folders on the Nokia phone opens.
3. Double-click the VMG file you want to open. To find a certain file quickly, type the name of the file along with the .VMG extension in the search bar on the top-right side of the window. The content of the VMG file is displayed in the window.
