One of the joys of owning a phone that allows you to watch video is that those days of boring routine like standing in line or waiting in a traffic jam need no longer boring. Just whip out the phone and watch a movie or TV show. Many cell phones come with an option for a micro SD expansion card that, depending on the size, will allow for several hours of entertainment. But first you have to get the video files from you computer to the card.
Instructions
1. Buy a multi-card reader if your computer does not have a built-in card reader. This is a device that can read various kinds of storage devices and plugs into the computer's USB port. Make sure the multi-card reader is capable of a "micro SD" and not just an SD card, however, because they are easily confused as a result of their very small size.
2. Insert the micro SD card into the appropriate slot on your computer. Most computers will not accept a micro SD card directly into its card reader. In most cases, you need an adaptor. This is a larger reader into which you slide the micro SD card. This adaptor will typically come with your micro SD, but if not you can buy it at any electronics store.
3. Open Windows Explorer and locate the video file you wish to copy. Then go down to My Computer and click on that until you find the external drive for the micro SD card. Simply drag the video file to the micro SD directly so it copies onto the card. It may take much longer to copy to a micro SD card than to copy from one directory on the hard drive to another.
4. Insert the card into your phone or whatever device you are using to watch the video. Here is where things get a little tricky. Even though you have been capable of watching any kind of video format on the computer, that will probably not be the case on your portable device. If you are using Windows Mobile and watching videos with Windows Media, you will have to make sure the video file is .wmv format. If is not, you can easily download one of the several free software programs that are capable of converting the other video files to .wmv format. If you have trouble playing a video file, first check your device's manual to make sure you are using the correct format.
