Make free online domestic phone calls to your friends, family and colleagues, and save money for yourself or your company. There are free online calling programs available on the Web that allow you to use your computer's Internet connection to place phone calls, either with your computer's built-in microphone and speakers, external microphone and speakers, a headset or handheld phone that connects through your computer, or even through your own land-line or mobile phone.
Instructions
Google Voice
1. From the homepage, sign in using your Google account or to create a new account click "Create an account," and enter your account details.
2. Select a phone number. After you have signed in to Google Voice, you will be prompted to select a phone number. Enter your desired location or area code to see choices. You can also enter a keyword that you would like to include in your number as a vanity feature.
3. Add a telephone. To use Google Voice features, you must use your existing land-line phone or mobile phone. You will be prompted to add a minimum of one existing phone to your account.
4. Make a free online phone call. From your Google Voice dashboard, click the "Call" button on the top-left under the Google Voice logo. Enter the phone number you want to call and use the drop-down menu to select the phone you want to use. Click "Connect," and Google Voice will call the number and your phone and connect you.
Skype
5. From the Skype homepage, click "Get Skype." On the next page, click "Get Skype for Windows."
6. Click "Register and Download." Fill in your account details and click "I agree - Continue," the Skype program software download will begin automatically.
7. Click "Run," on the file download window. Follow the prompts to proceed with the download and installation.
8. Log in to Skype and add your contacts. After the download and installation are completed, Skype will open automatically and prompt you for your login details. Enter your Skype username and password to start the program. Click "New" and search for contacts to add by entering in their Skype name, full name, email address or MySpace ID.
9. Make free online phone calls. Select a contact from your list by clicking on their Skype name. Click "Call" to start your phone call.
Free Call
10. From the Free Call homepage, click "Free Download."
11. Click "Run" on the file download window that appears, and follow the instructions to proceed with the download and installation.
12. Launch Free Call and create an account. After installation is complete, click "Finish." Free Call will launch automatically. Create a new account by entering your account details and click "Register." After you register, an email will be sent to the email address you provided to confirm your registration. Activate your account by clicking the confirmation link in the email.
13. Check your calling location. Certain international calling locations are not free, so check Free Call's website for calling rates before placing calls.
14. Make a free online phone call. From the Free Call program, click the "Dialpad" tab and click the numbers to dial a phone number. Click the green button to place your free call.
