Get Gps On My Nokia 6288

The J2ME application picks up the GPS signal through Bluetooth.


To get GPS on the Nokia 6288, use a J2ME application that connects to GPS through Bluetooth. The Nokia 6288 does not support Location API, which enables a Web application to obtain a user's geographical position. In order to work around this, you install an application that does not require a Location API and obtains the GPS data with a Bluetooth API. The Nokia 6288 supports JSR-82 (Jave Specification Request #82), which is specifically designed for Bluetooth connectivity. Once connected, you can retrieve GPS data for the Nokia 6288.


Instructions


1. Select the J2ME application and download it to your Nokia 6288. There are several J2ME applications for the Nokia 6288.


2. Turn on your GPS receiver.


3. Start the J2ME application on the Nokia 6288. A start menu pops up when the download is complete. When prompted to establish a Bluetooth connection, press the left nav key for "Yes."


4. Use the four-way central navigation key to select your GPS device from the menu. Press the menu button to connect. GPS data will appear on the screen.


5. Press the right nav key for the GPS menu. The GPS menu appears with these GPS features: compass, map, waypoints, etc.
