Unlock A 5300 Nokia Phone

Unlock your Nokia 5300 phone and activate the ability to use foreign SIM cards.

The Nokia 5300 cell phone was introduced in September 2006. Some of its more standout features include its memory card holder (which holds up to a two gigabyte card), its camera and its MP3 player function. And, like most other phones, the Nokia 5300 has a removable SIM card. This last feature becomes particularly helpful when traveling abroad, or if you simply want to use another service provider. By removing the SIM card that came with your phone, and replacing it with a foreign pre-paid SIM card, you can save big bucks, and even get better service. But this can only be done if you know unlock your phone.

Instructions

1. Turn on your phone and navigate to the home screen. Type "*#06#" into the keypad. The number that pops up is your IMEI number. Write this number down on a scrap piece of paper.

2. Contact your service provider by calling their customer service line. Tell them that you want to unlock your phone and you need the unlock code. Give them your IMEI number.

3. Remove your old SIM card. Power your phone back on. A screen should pop up, notifying you to "Insert a new SIM card." Type your unlock code into the screen now. The screen should now read "Restriction Off" or "SIM is Not Restricted."

4. Put your new SIM card into the phone and turn it back on. Your phone should now be unlocked, and your pre-paid or foreign SIM card is ready for use.
