Unlock the 7610's MMC card to give the phone functionality with other networks.
Unlocking the Nokia 7610 memory card allows the 7610 to work with other network providers. But to unlock the phone and actually have it work on another network requires consent from Nokia in the form of an authorization number called the IMEI code. Furthermore, the MMC memory card needs to be replaced with a new memory card from a new network. But to simply unlock the memory card from the 7610 is an easy process.
Instructions
1. Contact Nokia customer service with the intent to unlock the 7610. Nokia will then provide the IMEI code either over the phone or by mail. Depending on the initial agreement for service with Nokia, they might charge for this information.
2. Power down the 7610. Remove the battery casing from the back of the phone. Near the battery is the slot for the MMC card. Slide the card out and replace it with the card of the network that Nokia provides upon the entering of a contract.
3. Turn on the 7610. It now detects the change in memory cards and asks for the IMEI code. Enter the code. The phone is now unlocked and has permission to work with other networks besides Nokia's.
