Replace Batteries In Remote Keys For The 2003 Bmw 330i

Replace Batteries in Remote Keys for the 2003 BMW 330i

Unlike most vehicles with keyless entry systems, which have a separate keyless remote, the 2003 BMW 330i key doubles as a keyless entry remote, allowing you to unlock, lock and open the trunk from a distance. Over time the batteries in your remote keys will need replacement. When the batteries lose charge the "REMOTE KEY BATTERY" warning message will appear on your dash. Replacing the battery in your remote key on your 2003 BMW 330i is a relatively straightforward procedure that requires a few basic hand tools. Replacing the battery should take you no longer than 10 minutes.

Instructions

1. Turn the key over and locate the rectangular door that runs horizontally across the back of the key.

2. Insert a thin flat-head screwdriver into the recess at the bottom of the plastic cover and lift it off.

3. Remove the two Phillips screws beneath the cover.

4. Separate the front and back halves of the battery cover and lift the back cover off. Set it aside.

5. Remove the battery, using the flat-head screwdriver to pry it out, if necessary.

6. Replace the battery with a CR2016 3V battery, ensuring the positive and negative side of the battery follows the installation position stamped beneath the battery cover.

7. Place the back cover over the front cover and install the screws.

8. Reinstall the plastic cover over the screws.
