Send Text Messages Larger Than 160 Characters

Text messages have a 160-character count.

Sending text messages can be an easy and convenient way to communicate with your friends. But you can get so caught up in typing a message that you don't realize it's more than the allotted character count. Because a standard text message is limited to 160 characters, you're not sure if your friend will get that important over-160-character text message. Not to worry, because most wireless phone providers make it easy for you to send text messages no matter how long they are.

Instructions

1. Type your text message like you normally would, disregarding how long it is.

2. Send the message to your recipient. If the text is longer than 160 characters, it will go through to the recipient in more than one message. For example, if you send a message between 161 and 320 characters, it will be sent in two messages.

3. Go to the "Outbox" section of your phone and double check to make sure your message of over 160 characters went through. It will be listed as being sent in the "Outbox."
