Take Apart A I580 Phone

Taking apart your flip phone

The Motorola i580 is a standard cellular flip phone with a clamshell design. It comes with the usual features, such as texting and camera, and is sturdy and reliable. One of the benefits of having such a basic phone is that it makes the process of taking it apart in order to troubleshoot problems or customize the faceplate a relatively straightforward process. While it may take some time and concentration in order to get the phone disassembled, you should be able to do it without any real problems.

Instructions

1. Turn your phone off and remove the back battery cover by sliding it gently off the phone. Lift the battery out of its compartment and set it aside.

2. Use your Phillips screwdriver to pop the rubber covers off of the four screws located on each corner of the back of the phone. Then remove each of the screws.

3. Turn the rubber antenna on the top corner of the phone counterclockwise and remove it. Then use the tip of your screwdriver to pop the clips located on each side of the battery compartment. The rear casing of the phone is now free to be removed. Use your fingers to gently pull it from the phone.

4. Turn the phone right-side up and flip it open. Pop the rubber covers off each of the four screws on the corners of the LCD screen and then remove the screws themselves.

5. Insert the tip of your screwdriver in the seam between the screen section of the phone and its front housing. Work your way around the sides of the phone until the front housing pops off. Set it aside.

6. Pop the clips on each side of the metal housing of the phone with the tip of your screwdriver. Now lift the metal housing off of the phone. The back of the LCD screen will now be exposed.

7. Unplug the single LCD connector ribbon from the back of the screen and lift the LCD gently from its frame. Your phone is now disassembled
