What Is Bigfix

BigFix is an IBM company that provides computer network security.


BigFix Inc. is a provider of computer security management solutions that enable information technology personnel to manage and maintain network foundations. BigFix was founded in 1997 and as of 2010 is a subsidiary of International Business Machines Corp.


Products


BigFix products are designed to monitor personal computers, checking for bugs, outdated or faulty applications and security holes. When problems are found, patches and fixes are obtained by automatically connecting directly to the BigFix website. BigFix can also analyze whether a specific computer is at risk and will provide needed corrections, all while the user is still using the computer.


Platforms


BigFix products are able to perform on various platforms, including desktop computers, laptop computers, handheld computers, and virtual and physical servers. Operating systems that are compatible with BigFix products include Mac, Linux, UNIX and Windows.


Adoption


BigFix products are easy to integrate into existing computer networks. Depending on the size of the network, BigFix integration time ranges from a few hours to a few days. Once fully adopted, BigFix automates many IT functions, saving companies both time and money.
