Clear Blackberry Data

Your Blackberry, like other smart phones, contains private information about you, your contacts and your business. Storing this information is convenient when you want to access it; but when your Blackberry needs repair or when it is time to upgrade, you may be considering wiping the data from your Blackberry. Avoid disclosing private information by wiping the data from your Blackberry; just be sure to back up your information in case you need to access it later.

Instructions

1. Review the information stored on your Blackberry and back up important files.

2. Open the Blackberry Desktop Manger and double-click "Intellisync." Click "Auto-start" and ensure that the only option checked is to update your handheld's date and time. Your Blackberry will reload your date if you do not prevent it from synchronizing; this step will prevent synchronization.

3. Cradle your Blackberry and double-click "Application Loader." Enter your password if necessary.

4. Scroll through the options until you reach the "Handheld Storage Allocation" screen.

5. Click "Erase all application data." Follow the instructions on screen. At the "Application Data Backup" screen, choose the option not to automatically back up and restore the application data. Click "Finish." Do not remove the device from the cradle until the clearing process is complete.
