Make Your Computer Call a Phone
As technology continues to change, so does the way people make telephone calls. Phones have evolved from the clunky rotary dial models of the mid-1900s to cordless wonders to modern-day mobiles. But did you know a computer can also be telephone? That's right. You can make calls directly from a computer to another land-line or mobile phone.

Make a Computer Call a Phone
1. Although you can use dial-up, it is not recommended due to the slow connection and data transfer speed. Broadband Internet service is better in this instance.
2. If the computer does not have a built-in microphone, buy an external microphone and connect it to the "Audio In" jack on.
3. Download a telephony software program, such as Icall, Skype or Yahoo Voice (see Resources).
4. Open the telephony software program, and dial the number you want to call. Be sure to check first with your telephone carrier to see if any charges will be assessed for the call.
