Fix The Flip On A Flip Cell Phone

It's entirely possible to fix the hinges on your flip phone yourself.

Flip phones used to just be phones that opened like a clamshell to reveal the keypad, but with the advent of texting keypads and other accessories, there are now more types of flip phones then ever before. Sometimes your flip might have problems though, such as a loose feel or a broken hinge. If that's the case, and you have the proper screwdrivers and a replacement hinge, you can fix the flip yourself.

Instructions

1. Remove the faceplate on your flip phone. The plastic faceplate hides the hinge and keeps dirt and grit from getting inside it, but it also makes sure that you can't remove it. Remove any screws holding the faceplate on, and gently pry it up with a flat blade. Once the faceplate is removed, you've exposed the bare phone itself.

2. Remove the screws from the phone to open it up. Once the phone is actually open, you should be able to see where the hinge, and the hinge's screws, are. Remove the screws that hold the hinge to the phone and then set the hinge aside.

3. Attach the replacement hinge by screwing it in place right where the old hinge was. Once the new hinge is attached, replace the cover of the phone and then test the hinge by opening and closing the phone. Replace the faceplate and put the phone back in your pocket.
