Put Music Onto My G1 Phone

Plug in headphones to your G1 and listen to music on the go.

While the Android-powered G1 phone from Google is a great device for making calls, texting friends, and surfing the Internet, it is also a full-featured multimedia device capable of storing and playing music files transferred from your computer.

Syncing between your phone and computer is a simple process and requires no special equipment other than the USB cable included with your phone. Files are organized and played from the phone's "Music" application, and can be listened to through the phone's built-in speaker or with headphones.

Instructions

1. Connect your G1 phone to your computer using the included USB cable. Connect the smaller end of the cable to a port located on the bottom of the phone, and the larger end will connect to an open USB port on your computer.

2. Access your phone's notifications by either swiping your finger down on the notification bar at the top of your phone's screen or by pressing "Menu" and then "Notifications."

3. Click on the "USB Connected" notification item. Click "Mount" on the dialog box that appears to mount your G1 phone as a removable drive on your computer.

4. Navigate to your G1 phone from your computer. On a Windows computer it will be located under "My Computer" and labeled as "Removable Drive." On a Mac, the phone should mount to your desktop, or it can be located by opening "Finder" and clicking on the phone from the "Devices" list. Click to access the phone's contents.

5. Double-click to open the folder labeled "Music."

6. Open the folder containing the music you wish to copy to your phone.

7. Drag and drop music files from their folder to the G1 phone's "Music" folder.

8. Right-click the G1 phone removable drive after all files have finished copying and select "Eject" or "Safely Remove" to end the connection between your phone and computer.

9. Play music files by accessing them through your phone's "Music" application.
