Activate Gprs For Alcatel

Alcatel has introduced a number of CDMA and GSM cell phones, most of which support GPRS. Through GPRS, you can use your phone's built-in Web browser to browse the Internet. GPRS is a service provided by your network carrier, such as T-Mobile or AT&T. To activate it on your phone, contact the carrier.

Instructions

1. Call the customer services of your network provider and tell the representative to activate GPRS on your phone. You will be asked your account number and/or user name. The representative will provide network settings needed to configure your phone.

Your network carrier will send you the settings through SMS or have you write them down for manual configuration.

2. Open the SMS that contains the GPRS settings. Upon opening it, the settings will be configured on your phone. If you've chosen manual configuration, see Step 3.

3. Go to the "WAP menu" on your Alcatel cell phone and press "OK."

4. Navigate to the option "Profile" and press "OK."

5. Select "Profiles List" and press "OK" again.

6. Choose the option "Create New."

7. Enter the network settings as given by your network provider for the following parameters: profile name, IP address, homepage, bearer choice, security, GPRS parameters, authentication, user name, password and Access Point Name.

8. Press "OK" to save the settings. You can now access the Internet on your Alcatel phone's browser.
