Usb Bluetooth Adapter Class 1 Vs Class 2

Bluetooth USB adapters can be implemented using any USB port.

Bluetooth is a secure wireless technology that enables communications between portable devices, such as cell phones and laptops. Some devices have Bluetooth pre-installed, while others require the use of an adapter.

Function

Bluetooth-enabled devices can use a short-range network, or piconet, to connect up to seven devices simultaneously. Bluetooth devices can be used to transfer voice and data to and from a wide variety of devices, including cell phones, computers, printers and fax machines.

Bluetooth Adapter

Some electronic devices do not have Bluetooth pre-installed as hardware. These devices require the use of a Bluetooth USB adapter. Bluetooth USB adapters are manufactured as Class 1 or Class 2 devices.

Differences

The primary difference between Class 1 and Class 2 Bluetooth USB adapters is the functional range of the device. Bluetooth Class 1 USB adapters have a working range of 300 feet, while Class 2 USB adapters have a working range of 38 feet.
