Put Themes On My Itouch

Apple's iTouch (also known as the iPod touch) comes preloaded with Apple's operating system, preventing users from uploading third-party software that changes the layout and design. However, using jailbreaking software, users can upload and install different themes for their iPods and iPhones. These themes can range from movie, television and custom-based themes that change the look of the applications, keyboard and background display. Please note, jailbreaking will void your warranty.

Instructions

1. Back up your iTouch onto your computer. A backup is needed in order to restore any data found on your device in case it crashes and loses all of its data after the jailbreak. In addition, a backup allows you to restore your iTouch to its original state if you decide you no longer want a jailbroken iTouch.

2. Check the software version on your iTouch. While the iTouch is restoring, select the iTouch logo on the left-hand side of iTunes. Click on the "Summary" option. Locate the section titled "Software Version." If your iTouch use software version 4.0.1 or later, you cannot jailbreak your iTouch. You must be using version 4.0 or before in order to successfully jailbreak the iTouch.

3. Disconnect your iTouch upon completing the backup. Click "Settings" and select "Wi-Fi." Connect to a local Wi-Fi hotspot. Press the "Home" button on your iTouch and select "Safari." From Safari, type "Jailbreakme.com" in the address bar. Jailbreakme.com allows you to jailbreak your iTouch directly from the device without having to install third-party software and reconnect your iTouch to your computer.

4. Use your fingers to slide the "Slide to Jailbreakme" icon on the website. Your iTouch will install a program called "Cydia" that acts as the third-party developers store, allowing users to download themes and applications not available on the App store. Allow the iTouch to reboot and open "Cydia." From menu, select "Search" and type "Winterboard." Select the application and click "Install."

5. Allow Winterboard to install. Click "Return to Cydia" once it has finished. From the Cydia menu, select the "Sections" options. From sections, scroll down and select "Themes." In the themes menu, scroll through the themes and select one. From the theme icon, select "Install" and select "Confirm." Return to the homepage and select "Winterboard." From Winterboard, check off your recently downloaded theme to place a new theme on your iTouch.
