Put Free Ringtones On Alltel Prepaid Phones

Having up-to-date ringtones is one of the most common ways to personalize your cell phone, but purchasing each ringtone individually can get expensive. Just like a regular phone, there is a way to transfer music files to your Alltel prepaid phone to use as ringtones for free.

Instructions

1. Obtain or create the MP3 music file you would like to use for your ringtone. Many websites allow you to download mp3 files for ringtones, and some offer programs to shorten the file to a 30-second clip.

2. Connect your phone to your computer to transfer the mp3 file. This can be done by connecting your phone to your computer using a USB cord.

3. Open your "My Computer" folder.

4. Locate the drive that has been designated for your phone. Your master drive will be "C," and each subsequent drive letter is for attachments such as a DVD player or, in this case, your phone as a mass storage device.

5. Go to the save location of the mp3 file, most likely in your "My Documents" folder. Copy the file by pressing "Edit" at the top left of the page, then selecting the option "Copy."

6. Double-click the drive letter for your phone to open it. Click on "Edit" and select the option "Paste." This will transfer the file onto your phone.

7. Disconnect the USB cord from your phone. Go to the main menu of your phone.

8. Open the "Music" folder on your phone. Select the mp3 file you transferred to the phone.

9. Select the "Options" button on your phone. Pick the option that says "Set as..." and the submenu option of "Ringtone." Once you have done this, the mp3 file will play as your ringtone.
