Unlock Gsm Software

Global System for Mobile Communications, or GSM, is widely used throughout Europe and other parts of the world. Certain U.S. companies also make use of GSM-capable phones because of their appeal as "World Phones." Each GSM device has a unique unlock code that removes the cell service restrictions from the software. Wireless companies upload software that restricts the use of SIM cards from other networks before issuing the phone. The subsidy unlock code lifts this restriction and allows the client to use the mobile phone with any company. Many companies will issue the unlock code through the customer service department.

Instructions

1. Obtain the International Mobile Equipment Identification (IMEI) number for the GSM device. Press *#06# to display the IMEI for your device on the mobile phone.

2. Call the customer service department of your mobile carrier and request the subsidy unlock code. Many companies require you to have completed certain contract terms before being eligible to receive the unlock code. These normally include being a customer for a minimum length of time.

3. Request specific instructions on enter the unlock code from the customer service representative. Each brand has specific steps to use the unlock code. Some require the use of a SIM card from another company and others use special button combinations to enter an "unlock" menu. Visit an online source for unlock instructions if the customer service department is unable to assist you.

4. Follow the instructions obtained from the customer service department or the online source to enter the subsidy unlock code and unlock the GSM software. The device is now ready for use on any network.
