If you have a Nokia 2610 cell phone and you would like to use it with a different carrier you can unlock the phone with an unlock code. Once the phone is unlocked you can use the Nokia 2610 on any service provider that will accept it. Using an unlocked Nokia 2610 allows you to save the cost of having to purchase a new cell phone from your service provider.
Instructions
1. Slide the battery cover down to open it. Remove the Nokia 2610 battery from the phone and the SIM card. Examine the inside of the battery area for the Nokia 2610's individual serial number. Write the Nokia 2610's number down and place the components back into the cell phone.
2. Click "Start," "Internet Explorer." Navigate to a website that sells unlock codes for cell phones such as Cellfservices, Cell Corner, or Wireless Unlocking.
3. Enter the make of your phone as "Nokia," the model of your phone as "2610" and the identification number that you got from the inside of the Nokia 2610. Pay the fee that the website requests to unlock the Nokia 2610.
4. Enter the code that you received from the website into the phone to unlock it. Type the code in with the exact number, letter and symbol combination that you received it in. Press the green button that has a phone symbol on it to finish entering the code. Do not add any variation to the code or it will not work. Shut down the Nokia 2610 and restart it. Once the phone is restarted it will be unlocked.
5. Contact your service provider and inform the customer service representative you would like to use your Nokia 2610 as your main cell phone. The customer service representative will assist you in setting up the Nokia 2610 on your service plan.
