Use A Hands Free Set With Bluetooth

Bluetooth can communicate over a distance of 33 feet.

Bluetooth headsets are wireless, giving you hands-free use of many of your mobile phone's call functions. To use a Bluetooth headset, you'll need a compatible phone that supports a Bluetooth headset profile. You'll also need to perform a quick set-up process with your phone and headset called pairing. This allows your devices to connect without wires when they are close to one another. Setup is relatively easy and only needs to be done once.

Instructions

1. Connect your headset to a compatible charger and allow it to charge fully. Most devices take about two hours.

2. Disconnect your headset from the charger. Do not turn it on.

3. Turn on your phone and open the main menu. Choose "Settings," then "Bluetooth." Select "On" to turn Bluetooth on.

4. Place your headset in pairing mode. For most devices, you accomplish this by pressing and holding the center "Call Control" or "Power" button for five to ten seconds. Most headsets have an indicator light that flashes or remains steadily lit to show that they are in pairing mode.

5. Select "Add New" or "Discover" from your phone. Wait for the phone to locate the headset -- the two devices should be no more than a few feet apart for best results.

6. Highlight the name of your headset from the list of discovered items. Choose "OK" or "Pair."

7. Use your phone's keypad to type in the headset's pairing passkey when prompted. (Most headsets use "0000" or "1234."

8. Press "OK" to complete pairing. Your headset and phone will connect automatically.
