Get Free Cell Minutes

Prepaid phone service makes sense for many consumers. Prepaid phones are easier to get than postpaid accounts, since they don't require a credit check or deposit. You get a certain amount of airtime for a certain amount of money, but there are a few ways to get free minutes or credits on your account.

Instructions

1. Check with your cellular carrier to see if they have any promotions going on. Some carriers will give you a certain amount of minutes for free if you buy a package of minutes.

2. Activate a new phone. Most prepaid phones come with a certain amount of free minutes included with the phone.

3. Refer a friend to the service. Many of the prepaid carriers have programs when, if you sign up a friend or relative, you get a credit towards your account.

4. Check to see if your household qualifies for the Lifeline Across America program. This program gives discounts on their main line to low-income families. The qualifications are different, based on the state you live in. Check the link in the Resources section for the qualification requirements in your state.
