Make Phone Calls On Your Pc

Make phone calls on your PC

If you want to lower your cell phone bill or if you are thinking about getting rid of your home phone, using your PC could be a solution. Phone calls made from your PC are generally cheaper than using a cell phone or home phone carrier. You can call landlines, cell phones or other PC's. In fact, if you and the person you are calling are using the same software program to make calls, the call could be free.

Instructions

1. Connect to the Internet using a high-speed connection.

2. Download Internet telephone software and install it on your computer. Some popular choices are Skype, Yahoo Voice and Vonage. Skype is probably the most popular right now. It comes pre-installed on most PCs. Some news stations, and even Oprah Winfrey, use Skype for their televised interviews.

3. Open the telephone software program and follow any prompts. You will have to choose a user name and set up an account. This may require a credit card to put money on your account, so have one handy.

4. Plug in your headset. It's not necessary if your speaker has a microphone and speakers, but the sound will be better on both ends if you use a headset.

5. Dial the person's number who you want to talk to.
