Set Up Internet Connection Sharing With Mobile Broadband

With mobile broadband, you use your cellular signal to get online.

A mobile broadband connection is a connection from a mobile phone. Most companies offer mobile phone Internet connections, so you can run your mobile phone off your cell phone network and get online. However, to do mobile broadband connection sharing, you need a particular type of phone on a particular type of network.

Instructions

1. Ask your cell phone provider if the phone you have can create a mobile broadband sharing point. Only the newest phones, with 4G capabilities, can do this. Ask your service provider to sell you a phone with this capability.

2. Ask for the plan that includes 4G service. Most companies, like AT&T and Sprint, have a specific type of service that gives you shareable broadband. Be sure that you have that specific type of plan, and that you can pay for the service.

3. Turn on your phone in a location where you have service. Scroll through your menu choices and choose "Internet" or "Mobile Hotspot." If you aren't sure where to go within your menu screen, consult the book that came with the phone.
