Put Virus Protection On Cell Phones

Viruses aren't just for your computer anymore.

Until a few years ago, getting a virus on your cell phone was something that a lot of us never really thought about. It wasn't until smartphones started becoming increasingly popular that some realized the threat. Cabir was released in July 2004 as the first cell phone threat that affected the Symbian operating system. It was then that antivirus software makers realized they needed to not only protect our computers but also our cell phones.

Instructions

1. Determine which mobile operating system is installed on your phone. You will need to know this to find a compatible virus protection solution. Depending on which phone you have, this can usually be found under "Menu" or "Settings." Your operating system will need to be either Android, Windows Mobile or Symbian. Symbian is the operating system most Nokia phones use. Consult your phone's user guide if you have difficulty determining the OS.

2. Select a virus protection solution based on your needs, the features and whether or not it is compatible with your phone. Some of the programs have free trials so you can try them out before you decide if you want to purchase.

3. Download and install the virus protection on your phone by following the instructions provided with each program. Once you have the program installed, you will be protected from threats to your device. Consult the software maker if you have any difficulties or questions.
