Retrieve Lost Security Codes & Keypad Locks On Cell Phones

Keypad locks are for open-face phones.

If you have misplaced your phone's security passcode, you will not be able to get into your handset to make any calls or access any of your phone's functions. Security passcodes are set to keep thieves from making unauthorized calls or text messages from your handset. However, there are ways of retrieving or resetting your passcode. Keypad locks are designed as a security mechanism for open-face phones. They keep you from accidentally dialing numbers while the phone is in your purse or your pocket.

Instructions

Keypad Locks

1. Press the top left-hand button on the phone, followed by the star button. The top left-hand button has a symbol on it that resembles a left corner. This generic instruction works on Nokia handsets. If you want to re-lock the keypad, you can repeat this same action.

2. Press and hold the lock button on the perimeter of your Motorola phone. This button will either be located on the top or sides of your handset.

3. Press or slide the unlock button on the side of your LG phone. On some touch screen models, the lock/unlock button may be on top.

Phone Lock

4. Enter the code that is your phone's default. In most cases, this is 0000. If you have created your own phone unlock code, enter this number when you are prompted.

5. Call your phone manufacturer's customer service line from a different phone and ask them to unlock the phone. They may have to walk you through restoring your phone. You might lose some information stored in your phone during the process.

6. Go to your provider's store. You may have to bring the phone in to have it unlocked. This is for security purposes. The codes they use to unlock the phone's are sometimes generic.
